TRACK OF THE DAY: Astrid - 'Danger Signals' - Listen Now

After becoming one of Scotland’s best-loved indie groups during the 90s and early 2000s, the highly melodic Astrid are back with a new album and tour this year. With core members Willie Campbell and Charlie Clark still at the centre of the band, their new line-up is proving to be a highly enjoyable live unit. The forthcoming ‘Fall Stand Dance’ features ten tracks that reflect the different sides to this group, and the places that they have travelled over the years.

‘Danger Signals’ is the third single to be taken from the album. While the previous offerings included the good-time Beach Boys rock n roll of ‘Over The Hill’, and ‘Poison Reaction’ which charmed with its swooning jangle-pop, ‘Danger Signals’ delivers melancholic alt-rock embellished with more of those wonderful harmonies that have always been a trademark of Campbell and Clark’s work. The band describe the song as “a love letter to 90’s tinged indie pop, describes the struggle of early sobriety and the journey of looking for love and hope in all the wrong places.”

The release of ‘Fall, Stand, Dance’, their fourth album, will mark the 20th Anniversary of their debut, ‘Strange Weather Lately’, which was also produced by Edwyn Collins.
