Viva la Vida

“Viva La Vida” was a single and also the title of Coldplay’s fourth studio album. The song took no time to embark on a selling spree, with over 125,000 sales in its first week of release.

It debuted at No. 9 on the Rolling Stones 100 Best Song of the Year and occupied the No. 1 spot on the UK Singles Chart. “Viva la Vida” has recorded over 600 million streams on Spotify and it remains one of the band’s highest-charting singles of all time.

It became Coldplay’s first number-one single in both the United States and the United Kingdom and also deservedly received the Grammy Award for Song of the Year at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony in 2009.

Fix You

“Fix You” was written by lead singer, Chris Martin for his then-wife Gwyneth Paltrow to spur her up after the death of her father. Although the couples are now separated, the song garnered much popularity and is also one of Coldplay’s favourites as they regularly use it to set the crowds alight.

“Fix You” gathered over 112.6 million streams and over 10 million in sales alone. It reached the No. 4 spot on the U.K. Charts and also got multiple platinum in different countries including Australia, Denmark, New Zealand, Portugal, the United States, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom

It received a nomination for Best Song Musically and Lyrically at the Ivor Novello Award and another nomination for Anthem of the Summer at the UK Festival Award.

Paradise

“Paradise” was the second single from the ‘Mylo Xyloto’ album and soon became an international anthem.

Since its release in September 2011, the song has climaxed massive sales and streaming records. It first debuted at number 14 on the UK singles Chart before ascending to number 1 in just the tenth week of its release. It received a Grammy nomination two months later and won the award of Best Rock Video at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2012.

The song was also the most-played song across radio stations in Brazil between 2013 and 2023.

“Paradise” has been certified six times platinum with over 420,000 sold units and is certified three times platinum in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and Italy with over 5 million accumulative units sold.

Hymn for the Weekend

Yet another masterpiece from the four-man band, “Hymn for the Weekend” flew like a whirlwind across radio stations and music channels across the world, with every, tone and lyric being sung word to word by fans.

The remix of the song with Beyoncé threw fans into a frenzy as the duo teamed up to make an even more melodious version of the song.

It was released off Coldplay’s A Head Full of Dreams album which was certified Gold and sold over 2 million copies in 2015.

“Hymn for the Weekend” emerged double platinum and featured on seven Billboard charts in the US. The video of the remix with Beyoncé has garnered an epic 1.2 billion views on YouTube while the song has been streamed 532 million times on Spotify.

Something Just Like This

In a cultural shift from their signature emotional, subtle and sombre melodies, Coldplay collaborated with The Chainsmokers to infuse an electronic dance rhythm into this song.

It became a massive hit globally, recording surmountable grossing records. The electropop sound was released on February 22, 2027, as part of the Chainsmokers 2017 album – “Memories…Do Not Open”.

It became a certified quadruple-platinum in the US after selling over four million copies and was in the top three of charts across different countries including, Australia, Canada, the USA, and the UK.

A Sky Full of Stars

This is one of the rarest songs that can be infused into any occasion: from trophy-winning celebrations in a football final to a mountainous academic achievement to a remarkable feat in your career and business. “A Sky Full of Stars” rhythmically and lyrically attests to feats, and achievements, that make you proud because you’re indeed “a sky full of stars”!

The song was released in 2014 as part of Coldplay’s sixth studio album, Ghost Stories.

It debuted at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 9 on the UK Singles Chart. It was also nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2015 Grammy Awards.

It appeared in the top 10 of charts in over 16 countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Canada, Japan, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand etc.

It recorded multiple platinum certifications in Italy, Spain, Germany, Denmark and Belgium.

It was a worldwide euphoria that music lovers across the world fell in love with in just their first time of listening.
