Like every summer across the United Kingdom, music fans and enthusiasts will be gearing up for a bountiful treat of electrifying performances as some of music’s biggest stars grace the stage.
From rock legends, to pop stars and iconic bands, stadiums and venues will be full to the brim as barrages of tours and concerts that will leave fans buzzing with excitement.
This article will highlight some of the biggest tours set to take place in the UK in 2024, providing an in-depth analysis of the biggest Tours fans should be eagerly anticipating including their dates and venues.
1: LIAM GALLAGHER: DEFINITELY MAYBE TOUR
Liam Gallagher, the lead singer of the popular British rock band, Oasis, sent fans into frenzy after announcing the possible return of the band for a Tour in 2024. He made the announcement in an Instagram post that reads:
“I’m bouncing around the house to announce the Definitely Maybe Tour. The most important album of the ‘90s bar none. I wouldn’t be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together LG x,”
However, the withdrawal of Noel Gallagher now means Liam will be performing during the tour as a solo artist. Despite this, fans in the UK will be treated to live performances of the 1994 iconic Oasis album which will be held across the UK including Manchester where the band was formed in 1991.
The Tour will be a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the British band’s ‘Definitely Maybe’ album which includes popular hit songs like ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’s, ‘Supersonic’ and ‘Live Forever’, ‘Up In The Sky’ and ‘Digsy’s Dinner’. It will be the first time fans will be thrilled to listen to and watch the very live performance of some of the songs from the iconic album for the first time since the ’90s.
At the time of the song’s release, it sold over 8.5 million copies across the world, becoming the fastest-selling debut album in the UK.
Although Liam is the Gallagher brothers are currently running as solo artists, the Oasis band have been nominated for induction into the Roll Hall of Fame and it is unclear if they will get inducted despite being run as an individual group.
Liam has achieved numerous accolades as part of the band and as an individual artist, earning 13 accumulative No. 1 album spots in the UK.
The ‘Definitely Maybe Tour’ will kickstart in Sheffield on June 2nd at Utilita Arena before heading to Cardiff on the 3rd to perform at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena.
A three-day power-packed show is scheduled in London at the O2 Arena on the 6th, 7th and 10th before Manchester will welcome their homeboy back to town where he’ll be performing on the 15th and 16th at the 23,500-capacity Co-op Live.
Other stops are scheduled for Glasgow and Dublin before the 51-year-old returns to his native Manchester to wrap up the much anticipated UK tour on June 27th.
2: TAYLOR SWIFT: ERAS TOUR
The highly anticipated Eras tour kicked off in grand style as Taylor Swift lit up the City of Light with an electrifying display of music and theatrical performances at the La Defense Arena in Paris.
From dominating global music platforms to setting new streaming records, the album has broken several records since its release on April 19–placing her as the biggest pop star of the century.
The album occupied the top 14 spots on the Billboard 100 singles chart in the first week of its release and also amassed 2.6 million equivalent album units in just the first week of release.
Taylor Swift tickets have been in high demand so it’s no surprise that the ‘Eras Tour’ broke Elton John’s $939 million Farewell Tour to become the highest-grossing tour of all time after surpassing the $1bn mark.
Her last album, ‘The Tortured Poet Department’ climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. It was her 14th album to achieve such a feat, rallying Jay-Z as the solo artist with the most chart-toppers.
The aura around the tour will finally be felt in the UK when the music icon visits Scottish Gas Murray Field Stadium in Edinburgh on the 7th of June.
The show will continue in the same venue until 9th June before Swifties in Merseyside will be treated to swashbuckling performances at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool on June 13th. The show at Anfield will run for three days before making the trip to Cardiff to perform at the Principality Stadium on June 18th.
The first part of her show at the prestigious Wembley Stadium will start on June 21st and run until June 23 before a second round of show at the Wembley Stadium from August 15th will run for five days to wrap up her UK Eras Tour.
3: NOEL GALLAGHER: HIGH FLYING BIRDS TOUR
As part of a new partnership between RG Live and Merlin Entertainment, several exciting shows are set to take center stage and the grandest of all is Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds Tour.
Noel, brother to Liam Gallagher and a founding member of the Oasis band, has been a pivotal member of the record-breaking British band, recording seven studio albums before their separation in 2009. Both brothers embarked on a solo career and Noel, just like his brother Liam, has been smashing records and producing successful hits under the moniker Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.
From having every one of his studio LPs debuting at No. 1 to reaching no 1 in UK independent albums, the
51-year-old is set to delight fans with spine-tingling performances of some of the songs from his albums including the newly-released ‘Council Skies’ album.
The 2024 edition of Noel’s High Flying Birds Tour in the UK will kick off in Cardiff Castle on the 17th of July before moving to Wigan for a show in Robin Park Arena on the 18th. Two more shows at Alexandra Palace Park and Warwick Castle are scheduled for the 20th and 21st of July before a grand finale of the UK Tour will be held at the Piece Hall in Halifax on the 1st of August.
4: FOO FIGHTERS: EVERYTHING OR NOTHING AT ALL TOUR
Following the success of their widely acclaimed newly released singles titled “Rescued” and “Under You”, the Foo Fighters have written their names in history books as the only Rock band with more number-one entries on Alternative Radio.
The band have announced a return to New York’s Citi Field to kick off their highly anticipated ‘Everything or Nothing at All Tour’. The Tour will see the Grammy-winning band host 12 rock ‘n’ roll marathons at 10 different stadiums which includes two shows at the popular BMO stadium in Los Angeles.
Formed in 1994, the band which consists of Dave Grohl, Nate, Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee and the newly replaced Josh Frees, have enjoyed momentous success across Europe. Some of their biggest hits include ‘Everlong’ released in 1997, ‘Times Like These’ released in 2002, ‘All My Life’ which earned them the Grammy Award I’m 2002 as well and ‘Making Fire’ released in 2021. “
Ahead of their Tour scheduled this summer, the 12-time Grammy award winners will be bringing up on stage some popular rock icons such as The Pretenders, TAlex G, Amyl and The Sniffers, The Hives and L7 etc.
Fans in the UK will be treated to electrifying performances as the Tour as the Foo Fighters will be making their first appearance since making a surprise appearance at Glastonbury in June 2023.
The show is set to kick off on the 13th of June at Old Trafford before a second show at the same venue will continue on the 15th.
Fans in Scotland will be thrilled to have the legendary music acts at the 52,000-capacity Hampden Park in Glasgow before making the trip to East London to wow the crowd at the London Stadium on the 20th and 22nd of June. The seven-day ‘Everything or Nothing at All Tour’ in the UK will further extend till the 25th of June when the Dave Grohl-led band will delight fans with mesmerising performances at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff before rounding off their UK Tour on 27th Jund at Villa Park in Birmingham.
5: COLDPLAY: MUSIC OF THE SPHERES TOUR
The iconic British band announced the Music of the Spheres Tour in 2022 at a show in Costa Rica. Since then, the Tour has amassed sky-high achievements that have affirmed that Chris Martin led the band as one of the highest-grossing music groups.
The seven-time Grammy award winners have amassed over $500m in sales and have also joined the Rolling Stones in becoming the second artist to reach half-billion double-up in the top 10 highest-grossing Tours in Billboard Boxscore history.
With $100.5 million recorded in just the first 13 shows of the ‘Music of the Spheres World Tour’, the Tour has climaxed to the top spot to become the highest-grossing tour by a musical band or group.
The Band’s achievements go beyond grossing numbers, they have also recorded notable achievements on a personal level, becoming one of the Times 100 Most Influential Climate leaders.
They’re now set for a spontaneous show in the UK on 29 June at Pilton, Somerset at the 900-acre Glastonbury Festival– the largest Greenfield music and performing arts festival in the world. 210,000 people in the UK will be entertained by live performances from the band and it promises to be an electrifying experience.
