EXCLUSIVE: Listen to ‘Photosynthesis’ the new album from BABYBIRD – Now

Babybird

Today (19 July) sees the release of a new album by Babybird. ‘Photosynthesis’ follows on from the recent critically acclaimed compilation ‘Happy Stupid Nothing’, and is available now on a variety of formats. It features the singles ‘No Cameras’ and ‘Cave In’, and the vinyl release is Babybird’s first vinyl LP in 21 years.

Describing the record as “a wonderful surprise”, Stephen Jones has remained busy following a heart attack two years ago. Rather than taking a hiatus from recording, Jones went back into his home studio almost immediately afterwards and was even touring again by the end of the year. Those familiar with Babybird’s early 90s “lo-fi” albums and darker moments like ‘Bad Old Man’ will find plenty of this shadowy magic on ‘Photosynthesis’. However, those expecting another ‘You’re Gorgeous’ will not find it here, for this is not an indie-pop record by any means. So far it has enjoyed comparisons with the likes of Bowie, Radiohead and Massive Attack, yet it is an album full of Jones trademarks that only he could be responsible for.

As well as plans to release lots more new music via his Bandcamp page, Babybird will also be on tour throughout the UK in November this year. Find more info HERE
