On the 29th of November, Leeds was visited by four heavy bands: energetic deathcore band Distant from the Netherlands, ferocious slammers Ingested from Manchester, UK, Pennsylvanian death metal giants Rivers of Nihil and deathcore geniuses Lorna Shore from New Jersey.

The evening was highly dynamic from start to finish. Distant was the first band to come on stage, and they nailed their performance. Alan Grnja’s vocal technique, communication with the audience, and the band’s brutal yet uplifting sound made it impossible to stand still. Ingested came shortly after them, and they didn’t disappoint. Their slamming, brutal sound, their frontman Jason Evans’ energy and crowd control were spot on. The audience’s engagement was incredible, and as soon as Evans mentioned their band is from Manchester, UK, the crowd started shouting “Yorkshire!”.

River of Nihil slightly shifted the mood with its heavier technical sound and rhythm. The moshing became more active, and crowd surfing emerged. The night’s headliners, Lorna Shore, finally came on stage, and the first song, ‘Welcome Back, O’Sleeping Dreamer’, left no prisoners. The fans started shouting, crowd surfing was not stopping, and mosh pits began forming.

The band’s performance was immaculate. All band members were on top of their abilities, and Lorna Shore frontman Will Ramos constantly checked with the audience to ensure everyone was okay. The night ended with the band’s emotional Pain Remains Trilogy. It was a fantastic night of heavy music, and we were fortunate enough to photograph the gig.
