Jesus Jones Announce New Album ‘Twilight’ And ‘Doubt’ 35th Anniversary UK Tour

Jesus Jones

Jesus Jones have announced their eighth album, Twilight, their first new full-length release in eight years. The band have also shared the album’s first single, “Shot In The Chevy,” which is available to stream now. The release comes as Jesus Jones prepare to head out on a UK tour celebrating the 35th anniversary of their classic album Doubt, which they will perform in full.

Speaking about the new album, singer and songwriter Mike Edwards said the band’s recent world tour helped shape the record.

“We celebrated our thirty-fifth anniversary with a world tour throughout 2023 and 2024,” he said. “It was such a joyous occasion, reconnecting with the fans who’d been with us, sometimes every step of that journey. But what really made me think was seeing how their lives had shifted, grown, and developed. And it did make me realise that sometimes the world moves on, whilst musicians are expected to stay exactly where they are.”

Twilight finds the band reflecting on where they have been, where they stand now, and the possibility of change, uncertainty and endings. The record explores themes of ageing, legacy, self-doubt, climate instability and a changing world, while pushing the band into new musical territory.

Keyboard player and band manager Iain Baker said the album was shaped by the emotions that came with reconnecting with long-time fans on tour.

“We’ve worked extremely hard on this record – we’ve dug pretty deep,” he said. “The result is a record which is easily the best thing we’ve done since Perverse.”

The first single, “Shot In The Chevy,” offers a more unexpected side of Jesus Jones, with the band describing it as a mellow, almost country-influenced ballad. The track features piano from Yuki Yoshizu, whose melodies helped shape the final version of the song.

The album also includes heavy songs, pop songs, dystopian industrial techno, flamenco guitar lines and country-leaning moments, with the band aiming to move forward rather than simply revisit their past.

Jesus Jones will also celebrate the 35th anniversary of Doubt with a UK tour later this year, performing the album in full.
