Belfast quartet Makeshift Art Bar have shared their new single “Discipline,” the second track to be taken from their forthcoming Marionette EP, out June 26 via Heist or Hit.

The track follows April’s EP lead single “Chocolate” and arrives after the band recently supported Chalk on their spring European tour, alongside their own headline shows in Dublin and Derry and a 3Olympia support slot with Just Mustard.

Speaking about the new single, the band said: “‘Discipline’ is an illustration of the effects of propaganda on an individual within the military-industrial complex. It is horrifying when stripped back to its pure action and not cunningly hidden away as a euphemism. Exposure to this truth is necessary, igniting a flame of moral destruction within this individual, having abandoned his true morals and becoming a cog in the machine of war.”

The single is accompanied by an official video shot in Benidorm by director Colin Peppard. The video follows the mental decline of a genuine Harry Styles tribute act against a backdrop of faded cabaret glamour, nostalgia and all-day breakfasts.

Produced by Daniel Fox of Gilla Band, whose credits include Sprints, MELTS and Psychotic Monks, “Discipline” leans into industrial repetition, distorted electronics and heavy post-punk energy.

Makeshift Art Bar are Joseph Sweeney, Callum McGuigan, Alleyah Boulaich and Callum Sweeney. The band have recently picked up support from BBC 6 Music, DIY, Dork, So Young, The Line of Best Fit, Clash and Rough Trade.
