Welsh indie/synth-pop band CUT RIBBONS announce debut album

Welsh indie-pop dreamers Cut Ribbons have announced the release of their debut album We Want To Watch Something We Loved Burn, released August 21st via Kissability Pre-order now. The band are also streaming the video to their shimmering new track ‘Clouds’ WATCH BELOW.

A kaleidoscope of uplifting melodies, sparkling synths and glorious vocals, We Want To Watch Something We Loved Burn is the refined sound of a band who know exactly who there. The gleaming sounds present on their debut full-length have by no means come easily to the band, who have had their fair share of tribulations since their formation.

Singer and guitarist Aled Rees says: “It has been a pretty strange 12 months, finishing the record and looking for the right lineup to best tour these songs. There were occasions where it was difficult to keep our heads above water and there were many dark days but once we found the members that now make up the band, we knew instantly that this was the line-up that felt right.”

Cut Ribbons was formed by Aled and lead guitarist Christian Rees, who together have formed a bond that has made the true magic of their record possible. Keyboardist and singer Lluan Bowen’s almost angelic vocal perfectly complements that of Aled’s, while drummer Ray Thomas drives each song with power and precision.

Having released a string of singles and EPs, the band have garnered fans in the form of BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, XFM’s John Kennedy, as well as innumerable support from influential blogs and websites. We Want To Watch Something We Loved Burn was recorded in part with producer Rocky O’Reilly in Belfast and in Aled Rees’ own studio in Llanelli and mixed by Jeremy Murphy (Goldfrapp, Sam Smith). The album is a collection of songs written throughout Cut Ribbons’ career to date and showcases both the bands evolution and their innate ability to write stirring tracks, full of depth, which has existed since day one. As well the latest single ‘Clouds’, the album features previous singles ‘Bound In Love’ and ‘Walking on Wires’.
