WE ARE BODIES - New group featuring Dave Pen of Archive to release self-titled album / OUT 06.04.15

The first half of 2015 is proving to be particularly productive for the British musician and vocalist Dave Pen. Currently completing a tour of the European mainland with the highly regarded art-rock collective Archive, for which he is a writer as well as performer, he is also gearing up for the release of two brand new albums as one-half of duos.

The third album by BirdPen, entitled ‘In The Company Of Imaginary Friends’, is the latest instalment in Dave’s ongoing collaboration with fellow south coast resident Mike Bird. Out in mid-May, further information about this record will be available in due course.

Meanwhile, April sees the self-titled debut by We Are Bodies, for which Dave has teamed up with Robin Foster, an English guitarist/composer based in France. Boasting a crystalline production, the music on ‘We Are Bodies’ criss-crosses the borders of pop-prog-Kraut-post rock with melodies wrapped in synths and guitars reminiscent of Radiohead, Talk Talk and Tears For Fears. Lyrically, the subject matter has a distinctly Orwellian feel, with songs such as ‘Pressure Compressor’, ‘We Are Bodies’ and ‘Replicants’ describing the monotony of 21st century consumerist society, although ‘A Light On’, ‘Guide Me Home’ and the outstanding ’Shadows’ offer shards of humanist optimism to challenge our otherwise pre-destined dystopian future.
