VX DUSE shares the video for his new single ‘SPINNIN’

VX DUSE

Being born and raised in south London to a family with Colombian heritage provides the basis for VX Duse’s genre-dabbling music. On one hand, Duse was inspired by the varied sounds of London: UK drill from his near neighbours 67 and the buzzing new crop of trap and R&B artists.

But on the other he has been embedded in Latin American sounds since birth, with Panamanian legend Rubén Blades and salsa trailblazers Fania All-Stars booming from the family stereo. That rich, cultural mix of influences is infused in VX Duse’s new single ‘SPINNIN’.

‘SPINNIN’ opens with VX Duse’s vocal drifting atmospherically over a beefy bassline and brusque alt-R&B beats, creating a laidback after-party vibe. He then hits harder with the hook, layering his falsetto with a pitch-shifted vocal harmony as MG’s production swells in intensity. VX Duse’s luxuriant topline perfectly complements the flirtatious self-confidence of his lyrics.

VX Duse says, “‘Spinnin’ is a love story where the love is undeniable. It holds all the power between you and another – the type of love that drives you crazy with thoughts and desires and is so pure when you’re with that person. Regardless of any external situations and temptations, the only thing real to you is the way you feel about each other. It’s an exploration on the ideas of the foundation of love and its strength for the right person, that even if there is conflict or some separation at times, there’s only that one person who is on your mind.”

The ‘SPINNIN’ visual introduces a brighter aesthetic to the moody, street-level videos for his previous tracks, with VX Duse and his crew enjoying smokes, drinks, dancers and cards – and the camera never stops spinnin’. Watch it BELOW:

VX Duse’s previous tracks ‘SIA’ (featuring Danny Sanchez), ‘Prism’ and ‘Paraiso’ pushed him into the spotlight with praise from Complex UK and Wonderland. The timbales used to create a sizzling salsa vibe in ‘Paraiso’ are a direct reference to his background. As a child, he played bongos, maracas, congas and timbales around the house, while singing in both English and Spanish reflects growing up in a dual language household. And ultimately his music is a tribute and a continuing connection with his family and his roots.

VX Duse is signed to the new Good As Gold label, which was founded by The Arcade (aka Kurtis McKenzie). The multi-Platinum, Grammy-winning hitmaker has achieved phenomenal success with artists as varied as Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar, Shakira and Maroon 5. The deal soon illuminated VX Duse’s solo career when ‘Prism’ was picked as Robert Bruce’s First Play in the UK on Capital XTRA. That accolade was also awarded to ‘LMNOP’, the latest track from Duse’s hip-hop and multimedia creative collective VXMOB.

VXMOB can be caught live in September supporting Nafe Smallz. The dates are:

September
12th – Manchester, Academy 3
13th – Birmignham, o2 Institute 3
14th – London, Electric Brixton
