Los Angeles-based by way of Detroit electronic producer, songwriter, and recording artist NIK:11 unveils her new music video, “Pillow Talk, flipping the 1973 classic R&B hit from Sylvia Robinson.
Regarding the project, NIK:11, who self-produced, wrote, and directed the music video for “Pillow Talk,” shares, “The song is about knowledge, independence, liberation, and freedom. I wanted the video to mirror those themes by capturing a unique perspective using AI aliens, humanoids, and alternative intelligence.”
Along with cinematographer Sam Tang, editor Eli Lev, and AI Creative Director Farjad Ahmad, NIK:11 infused her sensual, empowered character with a compelling life.
NIK:11 explains, “I desire to motivate others to go after their dreams. I want people to know that anything is possible, but there is a lot of hard work ahead–years of work and persistence. In this business, you have to have tough skin; you must thrive on negativity and rejection. I see a need for the music I create and a visual brand that others on the fridge can relate to within the electronic genre space. I tell other artists to be honest with themselves when creating music. If you don’t love what you do, there is a problem.”
NIK:11 burst onto the scene with the release of “KICKBACK,” which took over the 19th spot on the Billboard chart and ascended to the Top 10 on the UK’s Music Week Dance Chart. She slotted into #2 in France, a position she held for months.
Her diverse sound blends elements of tech-house, electro, and big-room jump. NIK:11 has toured around the globe, performing at festivals in America, Japan, and Europe, while her music and videos have amassed millions of streams and views.
“Pillow Talk” rolls out on erotic, shimmering tones riding a thumping, pushing rhythm. Hints of retro EDM, reminiscent of early Lady Gaga, give the tune a deliciously voluptuous swaying motion. Topped by NIK:11’s bewitching, Medusa-like voice, imbuing the lyrics with subliminal allure, “Pillow Talk” drips with sultry, suggestive energy.
