Hot off the heels of their previous single in March the delicious Summer Breeze, Cold Water Swimmers release their new single Burn Your Idols on June 21st 2019. It was recorded with long-time collaborator Simon Ding Archer at 6DB studios, Salford. Only written in March and recorded in April it’s a completely new song from the Manchester trio.
Cold Water Swimmers comprise of Chris Bridgett formerly of Dub Sex and G-O-D on vocals and guitar, Carrie Lawson on bass and Selina Clements Woolnough on drums. They met in January last year and played their first gig in May that year.
Burn Your Idols is a taut song with resolute lyrics that are becoming familiar with their raw, punky style. The song encourages you to believe in yourself, not others and starts with an infectious rhythm section. It’s catchy with the line “I knew that kid when he was 21, he’s not a patch on you. Burn your idols, burn your idols.” It has a hypnotic, feel to it with Bridgett’s evocative vocal, this song knows where it’s going. The accompanying video is mesmerizing too, shot at Dead Basic Studios in Manchester’s Northern Quarter by Thom Jackson.
To support the release of the single they are playing a sold-out headline show at Manchester’s Peer Hat on June 21st along with The C33S.
Having recently played an electrifying gig in March as part of the YANA Festival (You Are Not Alone) the feisty trio are in full throttle mode and ready to go.
