Following her recent single ‘Breaking The Circle’ and latest track ‘Everything is Sweet’, Sophie Ellis-Bextor recently released the new single ‘Lost in the Sunshine’ and has today shared the charming Italian filmed video for the track. All three songs are taken from her forthcoming seventh studio album, ‘HANA’, released on 2nd June via Cooking Vinyl.

With endearingly romantic lyrics about losing yourself in the bliss of a sunny day, ‘Lost in the Sunshine’, which is B-List on Radio 2, is an uplifting and soulful pop track that builds to a kaleidoscopic and joyful chorus. Sophie says, “Lost in the Sunshine is about a lazy, hazy, hot, romantic, perfectly sunny day with the one you love.” She has also shared a remix of the single by Sudlow, which can be listened to below.

The video, filmed recently on a trip to Rome, shows Sophie enjoying a perfect day losing herself in the magic and romance of the sunshine. She says, “If you’re singing about being lost in the sunshine, better head for the sun! Living la dolce vita in gorgeous Rome. So romantic and beautiful. The perfect place to capture the emotion of the song.”

The recent single ‘Breaking The Circle’ was also B-Listed on Radio 2 and followed Sophie’s most recent album ‘Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s Kitchen Disco: Live from the London Palladium’, which was also her first live album.

Earlier this year, Sophie performed ‘Breaking The Circle’, and her hit single ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ as well as a cover of Madonna’s ‘Open Your Heart’ alongside the BBC Concert Orchestra for an exclusive BBC Radio 2 Piano Session for Radio 2 and on BBC Sounds.

Sophie’s forthcoming album ‘HANA’ was made with long-time collaborator and friend Ed Harcourt. It is their third in a trilogy of records, with each stemming around the thematic frame of a location. The collaboration began in 2014 with the critically and commercially successful ‘Wanderlust’, which was inspired by Eastern Europe and continued in 2016 with ‘Familia’, inspired by Latin America. The new album ‘HANA’, which Harcourt describes as “kaleidoscopic joy”, is inspired by East Asia and began with the album track ‘Tokyo’ and Sophie’s first trip to Japan pre-pandemic in 2020.

The full tracklisting for ‘HANA’ is as follows:

A Thousand Orchids
Breaking The Circle
Until The Wheels Fall Off
Everything Is Sweet
Lost In The Sunshine
Beyond The Universe
He’s a Dreamer
Hearing In Colour
Broken Toy
We’ve Been Watching You
