In the latest episode of the XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar is joined by Rosa Walton. Best known as one half of Let’s Eat Grandma alongside Jenny Hollingworth, Rosa joins Mark to discuss her debut solo album, Tell Me It’s A Dream.

You can watch the full video interview below, or stream the audio version further down the page.

Out now via Transgressive Records, Tell Me It’s A Dream marks a bold new chapter for Rosa — a personal and expansive record full of light, colour, open skies, friendship, dreams and emotional honesty.

In this conversation, Rosa talks about why the album did not feel like a solo project made to prove a point, but rather a natural space to explore songs that did not quite fit inside Let’s Eat Grandma. She reflects on making music outside the band, developing a different vocal style, and how the record became a world of its own.

The conversation also explores the creative process behind the album, from early lockdown sessions with Sam E Yamaha to recording in Wales at StudiOwz and co-producing the record with David Wrench. Rosa also discusses the importance of friendship and trust in the making of the album, including Jenny Hollingworth appearing as Jenny On Holiday on “Prettier Things.”

Mark and Rosa also discuss songs including “Sorry Anyway,” “Heart To Heartbreak,” “Halfway Round The World” and “Prettier Things,” as well as the visual language of the album — a dreamlike world of warmth, colour, sky and emotional freedom.

Elsewhere, Rosa reflects on the huge life of “I Really Want To Stay At Your House” from Cyberpunk 2077, why the song’s success felt disorientating, and how she separated that moment from the guitar-led world of Tell Me It’s A Dream.

At its heart, this episode is about imagination, friendship, ambition, creative freedom, and an artist stepping into a bigger world of her own.
