PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING release new video for single People Will Always Need Coal

PUBLIC SERVICE BROADCASTING - Discuss forthcoming Titanic commission for BBC's Biggest Weekend

Public Service Broadcasting have announced a Record Store Day exclusive 12” for their current single ‘People Will Always Need Coal’ alongside a new video for the track. [Watch BELOW]

The RSD exclusive will be available 21st April and features an eclectic set of remixes from Flamingods and Vessels moulding the ‘People Will Always Need Coal’ original into fresh new shapes. The vinyl also features remixes of past singles from Plaid, Nabihah Iqbal and Dark Sky. The band are vocal supporters of Record Store Day, stating “It’s always nice to be part of Record Store Day and to support independent record shops – they’ve been so important for us so it’s the least we can do. Here’s hoping for another successful, maybe even record-breaking, day in aid of independent music across the world.”

The striking new video for ‘People Will Always Need Coal’ uses enlightening footage of the Welsh coal mining industry in its heyday. J Willgoose says “the footage comes from various NCB recruitment materials, all doing their best to sell a dangerous and dirty job to a new generation. Over all of it, the dark irony of what was to come in the 1980s and 1990s looms – it really is telling, and sad, how swiftly a ‘job for life’ became an ex-job.”
