ON THE TURNTABLE: Madlib - Sound Ancestors

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

Recently released gem from the superior producer/musician/DJ/MC/Jedi Master (he might as well be). Much like Doom, Shadow or Premier, you know before you even press play that you’re in for a treat, arranged and mastered by Four Tet, this is exactly that, a treat to the ears throughout. It’s free form Jazz, it’s Funk, it’s really out there in parts, and it takes beat-making to new levels.
