MIKE KROL - announces “Ball & Chain” European Tour + Reveals New Video For "Neighbourhood Watch"

This autumn, Mike Krol takes justice into his own hands with the Ball & Chain Tour! These dates will be the first from Krol and his squad in Europe, as well as the first since the 4 September release of his Merge debut, Turkey. He also revealed the new video for “Neighbourhood Watch” via Flood Magazine who said “Who says the punks hate the cops?… The track is built on shocks of guitar and Krol’s snotty, authoritative yawp, which he makes the corners of the song’s melody slowly and with great pleasure.

The “Neighborhood Watch” video finds Krol putting that authority to good civic use, as he manages to halt a few crimes—and one or two bad ideas—with nothing but a shock of red light and an echo-delayed holler.”

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH VIDEO

Of the video, the directors Rob Hatch-Miller and Puloma Basu said:

“We love Mike Krol’s music and as soon as we heard he got signed to Merge Records we reached out to him about directing a video. We’re in NYC and he’s in LA and it was going to be too expensive to have him travel out here for a shoot, so we emailed back and forth about a ideas for a video that he wouldn’t need to be in. Then Mike came up with this brilliant concept of the album cover being the star of the video. This way Mike could be “in” the video without actually being “in” it, and sending a box of record jackets was way cheaper than buying a plane ticket! After Mike came up with the idea everything fell into place. He thought of some of the scenes, and we thought of the others. We cast some friends of his and some friends of ours to play the different characters who get busted by the record, including up-and-coming NYC comedians Nate Fernald, Brett Davis and Kady Ruth Ashcraft, and Michael Lisk better known as AP Mike from The Best Show With Tom Scharpling.”

EUROPEAN TOUR

Krol had this to say about the players he’s assembled:

Since this project is not really a “band” per se, I have compiled a collective of talented musicians and artists from across America to bring these songs on the road. The rhythm section for all dates will consist of Phil Mahlstadt (Chicago, IL) on bass guitar and Michael Sienkowski (Minneapolis, MN) on drums. On guitar for the US dates, we will have Kyle Sobczak (Minneapolis, MN) and Sean Lango (Jersey City, NJ). And in Europe, guitar duties will be handled by Elliott Kozel (Minneapolis, MN) and Shaun Owens-Agase (Chicago, IL). Bands that these guys have been involved with together or separately over the years are Sleeping in the Aviary, Rupert Angeleyes, Tickle Torture, and They Live Exclamation Point.
