JAKE ISAAC shares his brand new track ‘Still Have You’

Jake Isaac

Jake Isaac’s latest single ‘START AGAIN’ put him deservedly back in the spotlight, earning fresh acclaim from Notion, The Line of Best Fit and Wonderland to previous praise from iconic artists such as Sir Elton John and Sting.

It demonstrated the simple yet immensely accomplished appeal behind the rising British artist: not only does he possess a rich, emotionally engaging and world-class soul voice, but that skill is matched by his talents as a singer-songwriter. It’s a blend that has attracted 150 million streams to date and will appeal to fans of Michael Kiwanuka, JP Cooper and Jacob Banks.

Jake’s music provides a sanctity from the hectic rush and pressures of day-to-day life. And that’s particularly true of his brand new track ‘Still Have You’. Set to an intimate backdrop of delicate acoustic guitar, a back-to-basics beat and emotive strings, Jake takes a moment to assess everything in his life and comes to the conclusion, “If I gave up all I have and lost what I got, I’d still have enough ‘cause I still have you.” ‘Still Have You’ was solely written, produced and performed by Jake.

Jake says, “I wrote ‘Still Have You’ on a Sunday afternoon, sitting by the kitchen table with the washing machine on in the background and the children playing in the garden, and it was about the realisation of what really matters. The older I get, the more I think: I might not be as rich as Mark Zuckerberg, but kids, my missus, a roof over our heads… I know what’s important.”

‘Still Have You’ and ‘START AGAIN’ have seen the South Londoner embracing vulnerabilities and the things that many men let go unsaid – a powerful approach at a time when toxic masculinity continues to rear its ugly head. Jake’s positive attitude runs in the family – his father is Rev. Les Isaac OBE, the founder of the Brixton community charity initiative Street Pastors.

Jake started drumming in his father’s church in Crystal Palace at the seemingly impossibly young age of three. Similarly inspired by Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ album, Jake’s talents continued to develop and he completed his grade eight drum exam by his mid-teens while also teaching himself bass, keys and guitar as well as songwriting.

By the age of 19, Jake was working as a session musician and a songwriter, while also holding down a job as a marketing manager, all valuable experiences for a life in music. One simple truth stood out to him: making a connection with listeners is of far greater importance than the opinions of the industry around him. And as he embarked upon a solo career, that’s precisely what he did, with landmark moments including a set at Glastonbury’s Other Stage as well as the release of his 2021 album ‘Honesty’, together with its subsequent Deluxe Edition.

There’s more music on the way from Jake, as well as two film projects that are in development. He has been cast in a supporting role in ‘Goodbye Stranger’, an upcoming music-themed film from Dutch director Aaron Rookus, and he has also been working on his own screenplay, a redemptive story about fatherhood and family dynamics.
