As befitting the first track heralding an album about “the apocalypse”, “Metal Soul”, the brand new single from the acclaimed solo artist known as Gabriel Bruce, is darkly theatrical and deeply romantic. Having recently unveiled the audio of the track, now Bruce shares the video shot by acclaimed designer and director Tessa Edwards, watch below:
His lauded debut LP “Love in Arms” may have raised comparisons to Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen and even Billy Idol, but “Metal Soul” shows Bruce mining a much more distinctive, idiosyncratic path. Equal parts louche lounge singer, tortured balladeer and evocative storyteller, “Metal Soul” is a glorious appetizer for an album which Bruce says is his view of “the end of days”, a gorgeously ship wrecked ode to a rapidly fracturing relationship.
“Come All Sufferers”, the new LP by Gabriel Bruce, will be released later this year.
Gabriel will play the following live dates, with more to follow:
21st April – Brixton Windmill, London
2nd July – BST Hyde Park (Florence + the Machine support), London
