What do GUNS N’ ROSES have planned for 2019?

Guns N’ Roses are back, and the long-awaited reunion tour featuring three of the band’s founding members was a resounding success. The Not In This Lifetime tour, which began in April 2016, lasted over two years and finished in December 2018.

In that time, Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan played 159 shows in 41 different countries and raked in over $563 million. The Los Angeles rockers have firmly regained the attention of the masses, and they are unlikely to stop there. So what could be in store for them in 2019?

Despite the reunion concerts making up the second-highest grossing tour of all time, Guns N’ Roses are still striving to reach the levels of notoriety they had in the late 1980s and early 1990s. At the time, there was no denying that the hard rock band was one of the biggest acts on the planet. In 1993 Guns N’ Roses were named the World’s Best Selling Hard Rock Artist of the Year and the World’s Best Group at the World Music Awards. This was just before the original line-up spiralled into turmoil and eventually disbanded. Rose worked alone for a number of years, and made various appearances alongside an eclectic mix of members of other bands. He never quite managed to recreate what made Guns N’ Roses brilliant in the first place, however.

Now that the key members of Guns N’ Roses are back together and on friendly terms again, there is a lot of hype surrounding their future. The tour attracted a great number of older fans who loved them while growing up, but the band perhaps need to adapt to the modern age in order to get youngsters on board. One major step towards doing this has been to get represented in slot game format. The Guns N’ Roses slot from NetEnt is available to play at Redbet, and players can read more here about it. But in order to gain further attention these days, Guns N’ Roses need to look to integrate social media much more. This is something that didn’t exist when they were at large previously and a thing they need to tackle in order to get youth on board.

Speculation has now turned to whether Guns N’ Roses will finally release some new material. In order to build on the success of the tour, it seems essential to do so. In February of 2019, Slash and McKagan confirmed that a new album was in the works, and Richard Fortus mentioned in an interview that he thought it would “happen faster than you think.” Seeing as Rose spent the best part of ten years on Chinese Democracy, fans have grown used to waiting around for new Guns N’ Roses material.

Guns N’ Roses are certainly a different animal to what they were back in their glory days. The members have matured, and it will be interesting to see what direction they go in with the new material.
