Florence + the Machine played an intimate acoustic show on Friday at St John at Hackney in London as part of Passport to BRITs Week together with O2, a week of fundraising gigs offering fans exclusive access to some of the biggest names in music in the most intimate venues in aid of War Child, the charity dedicated to providing protection to children caught in conflict.

Florence said during the performance:

“We were incredibly affected by the recent things that we’ve seen in the media and the photographs of people suffering, including really young children and we wanted to do something and help somehow. We’re incredibly grateful to War Child for letting us to do this because we wanted to help in some small way that we could, so thank you so much to them because they are an incredible charity that helps children in war torn countries with counselling, shelter and education. So if you could keep donating because every little counts, and we want to be able to help as many children as possible, so thank you all so much for coming tonight and a big thank you to War Child for letting us be part of this amazing thing they’re doing. “

Liana Mellotte, Head of Music & Entertainment at War Child, said:

“Friday’s Florence + The Machine show was the closing night of War Child’s Passport To BRITs Week together with O2. Eleven shows took place across London and we’re thrilled that the shows have raised over half a million to fund the important work we do. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of these amazing artists and all the fantastic fans who bought tickets, War Child cannot thank them enough.”

Along fan favourites such as ‘Dog Days Are Over’, ‘What Kind of Man’ and ‘Shake It Out’, as part of the special stripped down set Florence performed a cover of the Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Silver Springs’. Watch below:
