‘Deep, mellow and boldly honest. ‘better’ is lyrically and musically akin to a 4 am come-down heart-to-heart with your best mate. It cuts deep but bleeds optimism.’
scott is okay has recently enjoyed support from Huw Stephens who has played the debut from this London-based artist, twice on his Radio One Introducing show.
The lyric video accompanying his debut single, reflects the cuttingly honest track, showcasing the songwriting and keeping things achingly simple as he confronts his past issues whilst stoically painting the future with a hopeful, yet skeptical optimism.
Of the track, scott is okay says: “I wrote this track right after I finished uni, all my friends were moving out or back home and I don’t really do well with big changes and it was a kind of hard time on me. When I started playing this song to people it was really daunting and awkward. It was weird knowing I was basically inviting people in on stuff I never really talk about. I’m not really big on the whole ‘writing heals the soul’ type thing but when I wrote this song, it was a relief. It actually ending up helping me when I was going through a bit [of a] shit time.”
