VIDEO PREMIERE: braveweather – missing pieces

Orlando, Florida-based alt-rock outfit braveweather unveils their new single/music video, “missing pieces, a song about the facades people project to others, even though they’re under pressure.

The band explains, “The message behind the song is that no one’s situation is perfect – a lot of “happy” people are struggling – and they’re putting on a brave face, despite what might be missing in their life. Everyone has their own cross to bear, demons to fight, situations that they may struggle with. This song is meant to empower those who are struggling and recognize how far we’ve come, regardless of our struggles.”

Made up of Christian Perez (vocals), Maria Jazel (guitar, vocals), and Tony Alicea (drums), braveweather formed in late 2019, followed shortly by the advent of COVID lockdown, during which they spent their time writing and practising in the unused front office of a casket warehouse.

Blending elements of the late ’90s and early 2000s indie-rock with hints of modern indie-rock and punk, braveweather’s sound abounds with fierce melodies, heavy-duty drums, and quickfire guitars.

“missing pieces” opens on sparkling, swirling colours segueing to gleaming guitars riding a colouring, syncopated rhythm. Perez’s shiny, evocative voice imbues the lyrics with vibrant tones. A shimmering breakdown shifts the harmonic flow and then mousses to luminous colours.

Full of dazzling, brilliant energy, “missing pieces” radiates alluring textures and delicious sonic leitmotifs.
