We are pleased to exclusively premiere “Netter Bot” the latest track from LMBO. Alt-electronic duo LMBO includes Michigan-born Koby Berman and Mike Swartz, who first met in 2010 when Koby drove Mike home after they both botched an audition for their high school play. Neither got the part they wanted but they quickly discovered their shared interest in music and began jamming together.
They started collaborating as LMBO in 2017 when Koby was in New Orleans finishing up his master’s degree in classical music composition and Mike was in Michigan producing and performing electronic music after graduating college. They realized that when they brought together their diverse musical backgrounds, they were able to create music that uniquely and authentically bridged their respective genres.
LMBO’s rhythmic sound conveys intimate emotion through lush and sonic environments that creates a breed of dark hip-hop and groove-based electronic music. They’ve recently had back-to-back Hype Machine #1’s and have garnered support from The Chainsmokers and Matoma. Influences stem from Flume, Cosmo’s Midnight, XXXTentacion, Jamie XX, Point Point, and Mr. Carmack.

LMBO talk to us about “Netter Bot”
What was the creative process and inspiration of “Netter Bot”?
During this time of major transition, we were listening to artists like Juice WRLD and XXXTencation which inspired us to try and create a sonic environment where that breed of dark hip-hop and groove-based electronic music could coexist and convey our emotional state.
What is the meaning behind “Netter Bot?”
We wrote Netter while we were both grappling with post college life. Each of us was living in different Michigan towns — Koby moved back home and was living in his parents’ basement and Mike had a small apartment and was working at a car dealership. During this transitional period, we felt like we didn’t have control over key areas of our lives and that we were losing the stability we had previously taken for granted.
