To celebrate her upcoming tour with seminal 90s rock band Garbage, TORRES (aka Georgia-bred, Brooklyn-based Mackenzie Scott) is excited to share her version of the band’s classic track, 'Special', originally released on their 1998 sophomore album, Version 2.0. Nearly the inverse of the original track, TORRES’ interpretation of 'Special' is very much her own.
At twice the length, it’s sonically darker and more hypnotic, mirroring much of the material on her most recent album, Sprinter (out now on Partisan Records). Co-produced by Rob Ellis (PJ Harvey), Sprinter received immediate acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, Pitchfork, Uncut, the Quietus, the Sunday Times and 8/10 from XS Noize, and is sure to be regarded as one of the year’s stand-out records.
