Experimental alt-pop songstress MALKA has unveiled her new single ‘Wonder Why’, due for release on February 12th through Tantrum Records. Steeped in Asian influence, ‘Wonder Why’ sees MALKA return with more colour than Holi Festival as she weaves mesmeric percussive rhythms among a charge of irresistible call and response chants for her eclectic tribe.
‘Wonder Why’ is the first taste of new music from the London multi-instrumentalist following her highly praised debut album Marching To Another Beat, which was released in summer last year after a hugely successful Pledge Music campaign.

MALKA first made waves on the music scene as Tamara Schlesinger, the frontwoman of acclaimed alt-folk collective 6 Day Riot and also as a prolific songwriter. Her past work has been included in a host of high-profile syncs for TV series and Hollywood blockbusters – most notably Skins, Scream 4 and 127 Hours. Her voice can also be heard in Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels.
As a creative flower constantly in bloom, Tamara is now channelling all her positive energy into MALKA. She explores a carnival of global sounds intertwined with an explorative affirming message; she’s the powerful natural-born leader of a welcome new feel-good cult.
