TRACK OF THE DAY – CHOIR OF YOUNG BELIEVERS – SERIOUS LOVER

Copenhagen Based Choir of Young Believers is an orchestral –pop project led by Jannis Noya Makrigiannis, front man, guitarist and principal player in a set-up of musicians that constantly rotate. Live, the band assume many different shapes and sizes.

Jannis often performs as part of a duo with a guitar or piano and cello and at other times is joined by up to eight people filling the stage playing everything from horns to percussion and bells. They have had No 1 hits in their homeland and earnt multiple awards at Denmark’s equivalent of the Grammys and in September 2008, the band released its first full length album “ This Is For The White In Your Eyes” which was nominated for six Danish Music Awards and won the “Best New Act “ category.

They are best known in the UK for the stunning song “Hollow Talk” which was used for the opening and closing credits of the Scandinavian police series “The Bridge”. They have also warmed up the audience for Depeche Mode on parts of the European leg of the Delta Machine Tour in early 2014.

Ahead of the release of their forth-coming third album, “ Grasque” on 19th February , XS Noize brings you a taster track with “Serious Lover” . The song opens with a weird, warped vocal but is soon joined by a choppy, catchy electronic beat that pulsates throughout the song. Jannis’ trademark vocal is high, pure and harmonic and elegantly accompanies the programmed pop sound to create a funky track with a cool ‘80s –inspired aesthetic. It’s a promising introduction.

The album will be available on CD, digitally and as a double LP. The double LP will be available in a limited colour vinyl version as well as black vinyl.
