This energetic new track premiered earlier this month on BBC Introducing/BBC Radio Wales with Adam Walton. The station has since playlisted it with spins by Lisa Gwilym sitting in for Bethan Elfyn, and weekday presenters Wynne Evans and Eleri Siôn. Eleri will host Billy Bibby in Cardiff on the afternoon of 31st January for a live interview and special in-studio acoustic session.
‘Substitute’ also caught the attention of Virgin Radio with evening plays by Tim Cocker and inclusion on the station’s playlist for two weeks thus far. The track has received additional play by over 20 indie stations (and counting!) in the UK, Europe, and America.
Radio industry veteran Emma Scott of Pluggin’ Baby is enthusiastic about the single’s early success: “With ‘Substitute’, Billy Bibby & The Wry Smiles seem to have stepped up to the next level with their airplay. It’s actually been really hard keeping up with all the plays, and being playlisted for the last two weeks on Virgin Radio has been the icing on the cake. There’s been a lot of interest for the single and it shows no sign of letting up at the moment!”
