THE SMILE announce brand-new live release – ‘The Smile At Montreux Jazz Festival, July 2022’

The Smile has today revealed details of a brand-new live release, The Smile At Montreux Jazz Festival July 2022. The seven track, eight song digital-only live release of selected tracks from the band’s debut album A Light For Attracting Attention is available from Wednesday December 14th.

A film of the performed tracks will broadcast from the band’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, December 13th at 8 pm GMT / 3 pm EST. The performance, available for just 48 hours, will also exclusively contain the first-ever public outing of the new song “Bending Hectic,” which happened to have been written earlier that day.

By releasing their Montreux Jazz Festival performance, The Smile follows in the footsteps of the likes of Miles Davis, Nina Simone, Wu-Tang Clan, Nile Rodgers and Anna von Hausswolff. The festival has a long-standing history of hosting legendary moments in music culture as a platform offering creative freedom to artists.

The Smile continue their dates in USA and Canada. Last month they stopped in at NPR to record for its legendary Tiny Desk series. The special set will be broadcast Tuesday, January 3rd, on NPR’s YouTube channel.
