The Microdance have revealed the video for their latest single ‘We Meet In Dreams’ taken from their explosively atmospheric debut album New Waves Of Hope. The video is a humorous ‘Mario 64’ inspired parody set across East London with the band starring as heroes from the classic Nintendo adventure.
‘We Meet In Dreams’ is immersive and is the perfect marriage of classy pop with a new wave edge. With Smashing Pumpkins-esque vocals and echoingly expansive guitars, it’s also the opening salvo on an album that over its 14 tracks explores an ever-changing palette of dynamics between firing anthems and echoing dreamscapes. Clash magazine describe the track as “Fusing blissful shoegaze textures with a gothic sheen, the material soothes the ear drums while gently pulling at the heartstrings.”
Psychedelic tones are a staple of The Microdance’s powerhouse sound and at their recent album launch, artist David Tovey painted a piece live on stage with the band, exemplifying the power they radiate through their evocative live shows.
New Waves Of Hope was recorded over two weeks in LA with producer Frankie Siragusa and features guests Nicole Fiorentino (Smashing Pumpkins, The Cold & Lovely, Veruca Salt) on vocals and Eric Gardner (Iggy Pop, Morrissey, Tegan & Sara, Tom Morello, Cypress Hill) on drums.
Elevating choruses and anthemic guitars are blended seamlessly together, showcasing the fact that British music is ever-evolving into new and exciting forms. And whilst blurring the lines of genre and preconception, The Microdance meticulously and effortlessly meld Shoegaze, New Wave, Goth Pop and Heavy Metal into an atmospheric explosion.
