SALAD Release New Single 'You Got The Job' - Listen Now

“The golden kisses of summer keep me going through winter. I store them up in my treehouse…you got the job.” Salad release a brand new single called ‘You Got The Job’. The track is taken from their hotly anticipated new album ‘The Salad Way’ which is released on August 30th.

‘You Got The Job’ is a slice of buoyant power pop, about the insecurities in modern-day romances. The opening lines came to Paul in a dream, which he then took to Marijne to shape it into this stompingly good tune which is the opening track on the forthcoming album.

“I think you know by now….you got the job”

Listen to ‘You Got The Job’ – BELOW:

Salad was formed in London, England in 1992 by Marijne van der Vlugt, Paul Kennedy, Pete Brown and Rob Wakeman. They released their hit debut album Drink Me in 1995 featuring singles Drink the Elixir and Motorbike To Heaven, which can still be heard cheering up the soundwaves on BBC 6Music. They are loosely associated with the Britpop scene of the mid-90s, right place, right time, wrong nationality (Marijne is Dutch). Apart from that their music was always a bit askew to the traditional Britpop music-making mentality, perhaps even a bit ahead of their time…

The original Salad parted ways in 1998 but much water went under a few bridges and they returned in 2017 after Paul and Marijne started writing together again a year earlier and recorded an album with Donald Ross Skinner under the name Salad Undressed, called Good Love Bad Love, released in 2018. They were asked to appeared at the Starshaped, Shiiine On and Indie Daze Festivals and did two short headline tours in 2018. The present line up of Salad is: Marijne van der Vlugt (vocs/keyboards), Paul Kennedy (gtr/vocs), Pete Brown (bass), Charley Stone (gtr/vocs), Donald Ross Skinner (drums).

Salad will be performing at the Starshaped Festival shows at these places:

31 Aug 2019 – Manchester O2 Ritz
7 Sept 2019 – Newcastle O2 Academy
14 Sept 2019 – Birmingham O2 Institute
21 Sept 2019 – London O2 Forum Kentish Town
