ON THE TURNTABLE: Friends of Our Youth – That Was Then

Friends of Our Youth - That Was Then

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll post my most loved records and recent purchases here for your perusal weekly.

This is an album to get truly lost in, in all its stirring, multi-layered splendour. Haunting vocals, shimmering guitars, flowing bass lines, and propulsive drums are the order of the day here.

This Manchester-birthed four-piece proudly wear their hearts on their sleeves and leave you yearning for more after the first listen. BBC Introducing recently said that it was “breathtaking stuff”, and they weren’t wrong.

It’s refreshing to hear music like this from these shores again. If you dig Fleet Foxes and Midlake, then you’ll love these guys. Go and invest; I promise you won’t be disappointed.
