Liverpool Indie/Electronic Newcomers MIG 15 Unveil Video For New Single ‘Interstellar’

Kicking off their 2020 with a bang, Liverpool newcomers MiG 15 are pleased to announce that they will be supporting ‘80s electronic legends Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark on their upcoming Feb 2020 European live dates, before hitting the road at home in the UK through Feb/Mar 2020 supporting Love Fame Tragedy, the new solo project from The Wombats frontman, Matthew Murphy.

Alongside the massive tour news, the band have also revealed a video for their brand new single ‘Interstellar’, which is out now through all good digital service providers. Releasing their 2019 debut EP, Bite The Bullet, late last year, ‘Interstellar’ is the first look at new material from the fledgeling band, showcasing a bolder, broader sound to their new recordings.

Commenting on the ethos behind the band and the themes explored in their music, the quartet say: “MiG 15 is a deliberately provocative symbol of the Cold War—the Cold War never went away; it’s just gone digital. Lying politicians are still manipulating the masses, and now they have even more tools and types of media at their disposal with which to do it. Music should be the weapon of the people, but in a post-truth world, even that is struggling to breakthrough.”

As a concept, MiG 15 began when James McCluskey (son of OMD frontman and producer Andy McCluskey) was a teenager growing up in San Diego, inspired by the fighter jets coming and going from the nearby military bases. After finishing school, he moved back to Liverpool and was introduced by Ann Heston (Deltasonic Records) to former Dustland singer, Adam Bray.

It wasn’t until 2019, after nearly two years of writing songs, that the pair felt they were ready to reveal their particular blend of powerful electro-indie. After some experimentation with the live sound, James Morris (guitar) and Martin Gordon (drums) joined the band to complete the current line up.

With early radio support from Janice Long at BBC Wales and Dave Monks at BBC Introducing Merseyside, things are off to a flying start for the quartet, who underwent a baptism of fire as the sole support act on OMD’s winter 2019 Souvenirs tour. Surviving their first foray beyond the limits of their hometown after selling out their latest Liverpool headline show, and with a strong clutch of new supporters keen for more material, the band are now well-placed to capitalise on their early momentum in 2020.

Already working with big-name producers such as Rich Turvey (Blossoms, Clean Cut Kid, The Coral, She Drew The Gun) and Tord Knudsen from The Wombats, and with a heavy touring schedule already lined up, the band will be announcing further details of new music and live appearances over the coming months.
Interstellar is out now via all good digital service providers.
