Despize, Soft Kill, Choir Boy and Knocked Loose are four bands of different genres that will perform at the Outbreak Festival this year. On the 21st of June, all four came to Nottingham and gave Rescue Rooms a little taste of what they’ll bring to the festival. Despize, whose music style resembles Knocked Loose, came on stage first with their hardcore punk set with loud vocals and aggressive instruments.
Next up was a post-punk set from Soft Kill. Their performance was very different from the previous band. It was calm, yet powerful and dance-inducing. The vocalist, Tobias Sinclair, shared a personal story about him being sober for many years and said that life always has a positive side to it.
After them, it was the dream-pop band Choir Boy’s turn to perform. Their sound resembled the 80’s style of pop. Adam Klopp’s vocals and performance were haunting and opera-esque. Neon lights and the sounds of the saxophone and synthesizers were very atmospheric.
And finally, Knocked Loose took the stage. A couple of hours before the gig started, the band announced through their social media that their vocalist, Bryan Garris, will not make it to the gig due to ‘travel complications’. The band’s guitarist Isaac Hale took the role of a vocalist, which turned out to be extremely powerful and exciting.
It was a great chance to see how every member of the band is exceptionally talented and that they will continue performing no matter the circumstances. We applaud the band’s spirit.
