FATHERSON release 're-imagined' EP of tracks from recent studio album’ Sum Of All Your Parts’

Following September’s release of their third studio album Sum of All Your Parts, Fatherson present four re-worked versions of tracks from that album due for release on 11th January. Following their largest ever headline tour in October, the band took to the studio with the intention of approaching a selection of tracks from their latest offering from a different perspective. Recorded in Belfast alongside long-standing friends Kris Platt and Danny Morgan-Ball of alternative pop band Blue Americans.

The result is immersive, almost introspective. Studious re-workings that strip these tracks to a brooding, heart-on-sleeve state and provide a further flag in the sand that the band will never be content to be one element in the pantheon of British rock bands but instead forge their own path. From the electronic tinged Making Waves & Charm School to the achingly melancholic Gratitude, the band showcase not only another dimension of the songs but also themselves.

“Our good friends Blue Americans run a collective called Oil Tape that we’ve always really admired. When we heard the stuff they were producing we fell in love with it and thought it would be cool to take some of our favourite tracks from Some of All Your Parts, and come at them from a fresh angle” says Fatherson frontman Ross Leighton.

He adds: “We spent a week at their place in Belfast playing around with the tracks, picking up instruments we’d never used before and experimenting with production. We’re big fans of electronic music, and it was so much fun to be able to take things in such a fresh direction.”

Sum of All Your Parts further cemented Fatherson as one of Britain’s next breakthrough guitar bands. Undoubtedly their most assured record to date, the album was praised across the board; “melodic rock that’s good for the mind, body and soul.”, “pretension-free, thinking man’s crunch-pop”, “songs for all moods & seasons”.

Following the release of the EP in January, the band will take to the road in February, playing a host of UK dates, culminating in their biggest ever headline show at the 02 Academy Glasgow (2,400 cap) followed by two nights at London’s OMEARA.
