Blushing Boy are five friends from Dublin who came together last year around the songwriting of frontwoman Ella Naseeb. Pairing elements of post-punk with her sultry vocals, they aim to make music that is both challenging and catchy.
Naseeb met her band while attending different gigs at The Workman’s Club on Dublin’s quays and they bonded firmly over a love of art as a salve to the fracturing society around them. Influenced by the fervour of IDLES, the romanticism of The Smiths, and the storytelling tradition of their hometown, Blushing Boy has been earning a reputation at pace on the Irish scene, playing shows with fellow Dubliner’s Otherkin, Thumper and Jooce.
‘Consumer’, their debut release, was recorded at Darklands with Dan Doherty. It explores the struggle for mental liberty and is a hymn for the overworked, underpaid, independent thinker in a world cultivated by mass media consumption.
