Originally formed in 1992 from the ashes of two of the most legendary and lauded guitar bands of all time, The La’s and Shack, Cast released four albums. The second ‘Mother Nature Calls’ also went platinum (three of them top 10) and had ten top 10 singles before disbanding in 2001. ‘All Change’ became the biggest-selling debut album of all time for Polydor Records. After the band’s split, John Power released three solo albums and played intermittently with the reformed La’s.

A decade later, in 2012, the band’s original line-up reunited with original producer John Leckie (Stone Roses, Radiohead, The Fall) for ‘Troubled Times’. The reinvigorated band produced an album full of anthemic, melodic and beautifully written songs for which their fervent fanbase has always loved them.

Founding member Pete Wilkinson retired from the band in 2013. John Power (guitar/vocals), Liam ‘Skin’ Tyson (lead guitar – also playing with Robert Plant) and Keith O’Neill (drums) were joined by former La’s member Jay Lewis on bass.

At the end of 2015, Cast celebrated the 20th anniversary of their classic album ‘All Change’, with two sold-out shows at the historic Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, where they played the record in its entirety accompanied by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra.

The band’s sixth album, ‘Kicking Up The Dust,’ was released on 21st April 2017, recorded at The Motor Museum in Liverpool, and produced by resident studio legend Alistair Groves.

The ‘Love Is The Call’ album started when John embraced a rich vein of creativity that saw him write what Creation Records legend Alan McGee considered the best songs he’d ever written. That instinct proved to be correct when the band headed to Space Mountain Studios in Granada, Spain, for sessions with the Grammy Award-winning producer Youth. With John also performing bass, a flashback to his early days with The La’s, the process saw Cast complete an unlikely achievement: a career high almost three decades after their first breakthrough.

Cast will celebrate the release of ‘Love Is The Call’ by embarking upon an extensive record store tour, which mixes intimate performances, album signing sessions and meet-and-greets. The album’s impact will be heightened by bigger live plans as 2024 unfolds: a full UK headline tour in March before they join Liam Gallagher’s ‘Definitely Maybe’ arena shows in June – a reunion after Cast were part of the bill during Oasis’s iconic Knebworth shows in 1996.
