VIDEO PREMIERE: The Overtunes - Write Me Another Song

Indonesian brotherly trio, The Overtunes, is poised to announce a brand new release with the arrival of ‘Write Me Another Song’, lifted from their forthcoming album due later this year. An emotive pared-down affair, the three brothers’ familiarity is evident in their creative process. Wistful melodies harmonise effortlessly over heartfelt and touching meditations.

They say: “It was a real joy and pleasure to explore the lyrical perspective I tried writing from in this song. We’ve always been the songwriters in our lives, and the effort to take on a different point of view here was a real fun experiment for me, personally. The prolonged recording sessions proved worthwhile in the end too, with the band making the song sound so much better than I first thought it would, and I am really proud of our work. We really took our time working on this song, making sure that we can give our listeners a different experience while listening to our song, And looking back, i am so glad we did. During the production, we divided this song in two parts, the first part, we recorded outdoors, to capture the ambience and somewhat mimic a voice note recording of someone singing in a park, the second part we recorded inside the studio, so that we have that transition between spaces that we hope people notice. All in all, it’s great to be in a creative environment again after a while, and we’re excited to deliver this experience and more, to our fans on our 3rd album”.

The Overtunes is an award-winning indie band based in Jakarta, Indonesia. The group is composed of siblings Mada Emmanuelle, Reuben Nathaniel, and Mikha Angelo – mostly known for their national hit singles ‘Bicara’, ‘Sayap Pelindungmu’ and ‘Berlari Tanpa Kaki’. The three brothers grew up in a musical family, who were always very supportive of their early musical development. They all learned to play their respective instruments together and began playing in local shows as early as their teenage years. At around the same time, they started to gather their initial fan base through social media platforms, before gathering a much wider public attention when Mikha participated in the first season of X-Factor Indonesia in 2013 – the band was then signed to Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia as part of the deal.

Known for their ability to write original music, the band has released two albums and also been involved in several movie soundtrack productions – most notably writing “I Still Love You” for the film “Cek Toko Sebelah” by Ernest Prakasa. They were praised for their sensitivity in writing to the scenes in the film and had an extensive collaboration with Ernest – which spanned across 3 movies in several consecutive years.

In 2019, the group released their second album “Memory Lane,” which was a national success but then decided to take a break for creative reasons – which the members took to pursue personal projects, recording songs with other collaborators outside the band. After a two year hiatus, the band is coming back with new music in the year 2022, getting their loyal fanbase excited about their new concepts previously yet to be explored. The Overtunes are back.

“We’ve been waiting for this moment for quite some time. Looking forward to making more records with my brothers. I mean, we’d been listening to all sorts of music, looking at different forms of arts during the pandemic. There’s a big chance of us three bringing in new colors to our music palette. That excites me. We’re hoping for a fresh restart. A whole new musical and visual experience for our loyal listeners. We wanna push every single idea to its maximum limit if possible. Can’t wait to see how our plans and things pan out.”
