Los Angeles-based pop singer-songwriter Teddi Gold introduces her new single, “Thought Bubbles,” on XS Noize. An appetizer from her forthcoming sophomore EP, appropriately entitled Vol. 2. Teddi’s debut EP, Vol. 1, dropped last August and immediately attracted beaucoup attention, landing her on Spotify’s Fresh Finds and Pandora’s Top Hits playlist.
“Thought Bubbles” percolates with vibrant pop energy topped by Teddi’s lusciously tantalizing voice.
Teddi’s most recent singles are everywhere. Instagram used “Wink Wink” for their official voting campaign. “BOOM BOOM’ appeared in a Google ad, while “Bossa Nova Baby” logged in at the top of iTunes’ pop charts.
From a family of entertainers, Teddi’s great grandfather, Sonny Lamont, tap-danced with Betty Grable, while her great grandmother, Betty Burgess, was under contract to Paramount Pictures. According to Teddi, her great grandmother’s advice has stuck with her: “Stay true to yourself and be really fierce.” While growing up, Teddi played the piano, sang, and dressed up in costumes. At the age of nine, her parents moved to St. John, V.I., followed by divorce. Her father came out and her mother battled substance addictions. Even though divorced, they all lived together: her father and his boyfriend, her mother, her brothers, and Teddi.
On St. John, Teddi discovered the emotional impact of music and its ability to function as a catharsis. Later, in middle school, Teddi moved to Los Angeles, where she acted, followed by immersing herself in poetry, which led to taking a class in songwriting. She began writing songs for herself – a way to deal with her emotions and thoughts.
While acting on NBC’s Aquarius, Teddi met Scott Seiver, who introduced her to the world of studios and recording. Getting to where she is today was not easy: playing shows to one or two people, grappling with depression and self-esteem, and plain old hard work.
Yet Teddi’s determination prevailed. She’s preparing to release her Vol 2 EP, along with writing and recording new material for 2021. As soon as it’s safe, she plans on getting back on stage, performing live shows.
