TRACK PREMIERE: BEA – In Circles

TRACK PREMIERE: BEA - In Circles

BEA is an Independent ‘hazy folk pop’ artist from Belfast, Northern Ireland. Her influences range from the likes of Foy Vance and Hozier to Dermot Kennedy, Maggie Rodgers and Phoebe Bridgers, with honest storytelling and vulnerability at the core of her craft.

Subtle references to roots in Irish Folk music can be heard in her writing, combined with a more urban, alternative pop sound that she has developed since moving to London to study songwriting. With a unique voice and a clear lyrical and sonic identity, this time developing as both a writer and an artist set her up to successfully release her first single ‘These Streets of Ours’ in October 2020, which received its first radio play on BBC ATL Introducing as a world exclusive and received coverage from the likes of Atwood Magazine, Lefuturewave, When The Horn Blows and more.

These Streets of Ours was also played on BBC6 Introducing Mixtape and was featured on Fresh on the Net’s ‘Fresh Faves’. This was followed by her second single ‘Ghost’ which was released in November and was also played on BBC ATL Introducing and received coverage from the likes of Wolf in a Suit, Lefuturewave and Digital Tour Bus.

‘In Circles’ is the third single to come from BEA and was written with friend and fellow songwriter, Evangelista Disco. This mellow, reflective song is about the toxic people we let into our lives against our better judgement… and then keep around because we’re too deep in to see a way out. It explores the frustration of this never-ending cycle and accepts responsibility for playing along. With exposed and vulnerable vocals, a mix of organic and programmed sounds, and drive from airy electric guitars, this piano and vocal-led track has a distorted yet authentic feel. Backing vocals have become a signature feature of BEA’s sound and also play a big part in the character of this track.
