Brooklyn based Turkish singer-songwriter/producer SIRMA has been making waves for a few years now and she resumes normal duties this year with a hauntingly, emotive down-tempo pop track ‘Put Your Faith In Me’ that she completely wrote, sang and produced herself, which is no mean feat.
After making her global radio debut with her latest single “Coming Undone” on Apple Music’s Beats 1 last October, SIRMA is getting ready to embark on a new chapter with her self-produced new single, “Put Your Faith In Me”. Born and raised in Istanbul, now living in Brooklyn, NY, SIRMA has been on a mission to become a completely self-sufficient artist since her debut, “To Love”, in 2017. With her very first self-produced Turkish single, “Belki Bir Gün”, landing on #3 on the Spotify Viral 50 Turkey chart last summer, SIRMA has finally accepted her identity as the sole writer and producer of her own material.
With “Put Your Faith In Me”, she takes one step further into the realm of engineering. “I wanted to see if I could pull it off, not just writing, recording and producing, but also mixing and mastering my own records with my very limited setup, at home. So, it started as an experiment. Took a lot of trial and error, and lots of research, but when I was finally done with it, I experienced a whole new level of contentment. I didn’t show this song to anybody until it was finished. I guess I was curious to hear what full creative control sounded like for me. I’ve been longing for that for what seems like a very long time,” says SIRMA, about the process that led to “Put Your Faith In Me”.
