ON THE TURNTABLE: Liminanas/Garnier - De Pelicula

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

Recently released collaboration album from Southern French Psych duo The Liminanas & legendary DJ/producer Laurent Garnier. It might be too early to pronounce this my Album of the Year, but it’s definitely a contender.

If, like me, you love Serge Gainsbourg and underrated Big Beat party starters Lo Fidelity Allstars, then this is the album for you. It has it all, massive beats, big basslines and Psychedelic jams; all melded together in a kind of loose, Electronica vibe not dissimilar to a Weatherall Record.

The album centres around two fictional French teenagers named Saul & Juliette, but I can’t tell you what they get up to because I don’t speak French. That said, who cares when it sounds as good as this! It’s an exceptional album and one that needs adding to your collection ASAP.
