Today, Mogwai release their new song “Boltfor”, a sweeping epic that lands ahead of their show at London’s Alexandra Palace on May 27: the band’s largest ever UK headline show, in support of their UK No.1 album, ‘As The Love Continues’.

The new song is accompanied by a video directed by Sam Wiehl. Wiehl previously directed the video for “Ritchie Sacramento” and is currently collaborating with Yann Tiersen on a new live AV show.

“Boltfor” was initially recorded during the sessions for As The Love Continues at Vada Studio’s and then completed at the band’s very own Castle of Doom studios in March 2022. The track shares many of the hallmarks of the band’s landmark tenth album: delicate synth pulses, motorik rhythms and a truly expansive arrangement.

Going deeper on the video, director Sam Wiehl says, “The video is a visual metaphor for the constant movement in life and the unceasing urge to move forward as individuals… in the form of a metaphysical road movie.”

Mogwai are setting off on a European tour this Saturday following a series of incredible shows across America’s West Coast – they will then head over to the UK to play their headline show at Alexandra Palace. The band headline both Bluedot and Connect in the UK this summer, alongside appearances at further festivals across Europe. The release of “Boltfor” follows the announcement of Stuart Braithwaite’s forthcoming autobiography, Spaceships Over Glasgow: Mogwai and Misspent Youth. The book is set for release on September 1.
