London’s All Points East festival made a thrilling return to Victoria Park this August, with an unforgettable evening headlined by the electrifying producer Kaytranada. The park was transformed into a vibrant city within the city, brimming with attractions, multiple music stages, a variety of food and merchandise vendors, wellness activities, and much more.
XS Noize was part of this massive celebration, where the sounds of funky electronic dance music echoed throughout the evening. All eyes were on the East Stage, the festival’s main attraction, where the anticipation for the night’s performances reached fever pitch.
Thundercat, the fun-loving musician and close friend of Kaytranada warmed up the crowd a few hours before the headliner. Clad in a colourful outfit and his signature fluffy cat ears, Thundercat’s virtuosic bass guitar performance earned him thunderous applause. The audience’s energy peaked during his renditions of “Funny Thing” and “Them Changes,” with the crowd enthusiastically singing along, bringing a smile to the musician’s face. As Thundercat left the stage, the crew began setting the scene for the next artist, Victoria Monet, adorning the stage with lush green flowers and ferns.
The moment Victoria Monet’s dancers hit the stage, it was clear the audience was in for something unique. Kicking off her set with her hit single “Alright,” produced by Kaytranada, Monet and her dancers delivered a stunning performance. Channeling Michael Jackson with their signature hats and long dark trench coats, they flawlessly executed the choreography from the song’s music video, much to the crowd’s delight.
After the first song, the trench coats were shed to reveal daring denim ensembles, and the energy only intensified. Monet never missed a beat, flawlessly combining powerful vocals with dynamic dance routines. Her dance crew matched her energy, showcasing impressive athleticism and ballet-inspired moves. The highlight of her set, “Party Girls,” seamlessly blended with Mad Cobra’s “Flex,” Sister Nancy’s “Bam Bam,” and Beyoncé’s “Baby Boy,” creating a dancefloor anthem that had the entire crowd moving. Monet expressed her gratitude to the audience, acknowledging the warm reception and noting that it was likely the largest crowd she had ever performed for. The festival buzzed with excitement long after her set ended.
By 9:40 pm, the anticipation peaked as Louis Celestin, better known as Kaytranada, took the stage. The crowd, now at its most significant, surged with energy as the stage lights flickered and visuals danced across the screens. Standing behind his DJ setup, Kaytranada expertly controlled the atmosphere, opening with “Pressure” from his latest album, Timeless, followed by the fan-favourite “TRACK UNO” from 99.9%.
The setlist was a masterful blend of originals, covers, and remixes, including Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” and Janet Jackson’s “If,” all reimagined with Kaytranada’s signature funky hip-hop dance beats. The crowd was in constant motion, dancing non-stop as the music producer expressed his excitement and gratitude between tracks. The electric energy of the performance was contagious, with Kaytranada’s music offering a temporary escape from reality, urging everyone to lose themselves in the rhythm.
The night was a resounding success, leaving fans eagerly anticipating Kaytranada’s return to the UK for a full tour.
