Today sees Grammy-nominated Gothenburg natives Little Dragon reveal the stunning video for ‘Strobe Light’. The sun-kissed video, shot in Johannesburg, was masterminded by Kristin-Lee Moolman alongside frequent collaborator and stylist IB Kamara and is made up of picturesque South African visuals and beautiful cross-dressers, exploring the taboo the region still holds around the subject.
Revealing their aspirations for the video, Kristin-Lee Moolman & IB Kamara muse, “We wanted to make a film that celebrates two dancers from Johannesburg and that feeling of being young and creating your own universe within your environment and being able to express yourself in any shape or form.” The setting for the video was one that came quickly to the band, as South Africa is intricately woven into the fabric of the band’s DNA as lead singer Yukimi explains, “Both Nabuma Rubberband and Season High have moments inspired by South African music. It all started with Erik, who is married to a South African, coming home from his visits with a hard drive full of mixes and tracks of South African house. We started listening to his favourite tracks on the road, the fatness and the groove combined with the electronics had us hooked. Having the “Strobe Light” video made there felt like the perfect place. Somehow we feel like our music is truly understood there.”

Released in mid-April, new album ‘Season High’ finds the band in fine form. Described as NME’s Album of the Week as “a fresh and inventive electropop record with a healthy disregard for current chart trends, ‘Season High’ marks the band’s first release since their critically-acclaimed 2014 fourth LP ‘Nabuma Rubberband’ and carries on the tradition of marrying smouldering electronics and laid-back R&B melodies that the band have come revered for.
It’s been an incredible few months for the four-piece since the release of ‘Season High’ that has seen the album win widespread acclaim from fans and critics alike with the band playing knockout festival performances at the likes of Coachella, Glastonbury & Sonar and stopping by Later… With Jools Holland for a superb performance of single ‘Sweet’. The band will be back on these shores in September for a highly-anticipated set at Bestival before returning later in the Autumn for a run of UK dates that includes two nights at London’s Roundhouse.
