Creating a lane of his own where authenticity and ambition collide with an unstoppable sense of community, the observational and aspirational singer-songwriter Jamie Webster releases his first new music of the year ahead of playing to 26,000 people over just two dates.
Voice Of The Voiceless – OUT NOW – emerges from intensely creative and productive recording sessions over the past year, setting the creatively-emboldened artist and his fans on a new path of optimism and possibility as a summer of main stage festival appearances, sunsets, and long nights under the stars stretch out before them.
In sharing the first spoils of time spent recording with now long-term producer/collaborator Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Kylie Minogue, Idlewild) at the iconic Rockfield Studios as well as the artist’s own new studio in Liverpool, Webster says:

So many of us feel alone, powerless and with no chance to succeeding in today’s society. This song is a reminder that we’re not alone, that if we rise from the shadows and come together, we might actually have a chance to make a positive change for everyone”

Feeding off the new velocity that his second Top Ten album, 2022’s No.3 success, Moments, afforded him, Webster set off on his biggest ever UK Tour last winter, selling out venues up, down and around the UK and Ireland, including memorable shows at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire, Glasgow Barrowland and the grand Albert Hall in Manchester. No sooner had he set down his guitar at a SOLD-OUT M&S Bank Arena back home in Liverpool last November than Webster announced his biggest shows to date – two forthcoming nights shared with a total of 26,000 people at the city’s Pier Head over Thu 29 and Fri 30 June 2023.
Looking ahead to the landmark shows to come, as well as reflecting on his set at Glastonbury Festival, taking to the bigger Avalon Stage last weekend following 2022’s debut on the Leftfield Stage at the invitation of Billy Bragg, Webster’s newest cut makes decisive strides towards further advances in sound. Remaining resolute in using his music to freeze-frame a moment in time, decrying the status quo, Webster also ignites new flames of hope that, one day, change will come.
Stating a wide range of influences, recently writing off the back of a love of classic American folk-rock, not limited to the lines of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young but also the towering presences of Bob Dylan and Paul Simon, Webster looks a little closer to home with some of this summer’s encounters with long-standing heroes. Joining him as support for his own Pier Head shows is Michael Head, the ‘songwriter’s songwriter’ acclaimed for his solo work as well as cult-classic albums with Shack and The Pale Fountains, while Webster encounters the magisterial James when he supports them at Halifax’s Piece Hall early next month.

Buoyed by a swell of grassroots support, Webster first emerged as a solo artist in 2020 with the release of his mega-streaming, fully-confirmed modern festival field mosh-pit classic, Weekend In Paradise, which drove the socially-aware artist onto debut album success, hitting the UK Official Album Chart Top Ten at the first time of asking with We Get By. The same album made history by installing him as the first ever Number One artist on the UK’s Official Folk Album Chart.
Quickly working upwards through the network of small venues onto bigger stages, Webster’s vision as a plain-singing teller of stories that reflected the lives of his listeners swelled his growing family of fans, one which came together again to support 2023’s Moments album. Gaining a Top Five finish, settling at Number 3, Moments was recorded with an overt sense of ambition and deeper sonic sophistication in Eringa’s company, dynamics that are expected to extend further into a rumoured third album.
Webster is joined on stage and in the studio by his band, including Jim Sharrock (drums), Tim Cunningham (bass) and Danny Murphy (guitars).
