Glasgow indie mainstays Declan Welsh & The Decadent West share effervescent new effort ‘I Don’t Know Why’, out today (April 20th), signalling the latest reveal from eagerly anticipated second record ‘2’, set for release September 22nd via Frictionless Music.

Speaking ahead of its arrival, enigmatic frontman Welsh stated: “It’s a story from different characters’ perspectives – about how we cope with things ending, what we reach for. And how there’s such a massive amount of life that’s impossible to know, sometimes the only response is to walk into the unknown and embrace it”.

Preceded by LP lead singles ‘King Of My Head’ and ‘Mercy’, the thrilling four-piece are in the midst of a mini-UK tour, following on from a string of sold-out shows (including their biggest ever headline gig at Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland Ballroom & Twin Atlantic support tour), and having also seen their ‘It’s Been A Year’ EP longlisted for 2022’s Scottish Album of the Year Awards alongside the likes of Walt Disco and The Ninth Wave.

With a slew of new material ready to be unveiled in the months to come, the quartet are primed to build on widespread press plaudits (The Independent, The Line Of Best Fit, Dork, Clash, Under The Radar, Gigwise, The Forty-Five) and BBC Radio 1 (Jack Saunders, Clara Amfo, Jordan North) airplay, whilst on the live front they’re set to tour throughout Europe this summer, ahead of a prestigious slot on the main stage at TRNSMT in July before Pulp.

Produced by Grammy-nominated, Mercury Award-winning producer Gianluca Buccaletti (Arlo Parks, Big Piig, Easy Life) and mastered by Heba Kadry (Beach House, Bjork, Big Thief, Slowdive), Declan Welsh & The Decadent West’s ‘I Don’t Know Why’ is out now via Frictionless Music and available on all digital platforms.

The Decadent West are Declan Welsh (lead vocals, guitar), Duncan McBride (guitar), Ben Corlett (bass), Murray Noble (drums)
