ALIAS KID - set out first major headline UK tour...

Throwing yourself headlong into the anarchic tours of the Happy Mondays and Black Grape is one thing. Coming out the other side in one piece, is another matter entirely…. Triumphantly emerging the other side, with a series of incendiary support slots and a burgeoning fanbase to their name – 2016 looks bright for ALIAS KID as they delightedly announce their first major headline tour.

Signed by music mogul Alan McGee in 2013 (Oasis, Primal Scream, Super Furry Animals), one of the gutsiest rock’n’roll outfits to emerge from Manchester in recent years continue to show they have what it takes as they set their sights on a run of UK dates all their own this Spring.

Kicking off proceedings in Chesterfield Victoria Inn on 4th of March, the five-piece will take in a total of 11 shows in all, culminating in a final hometown show in Manchester Club Academy on 30th April. (Full listings below.)

Speaking about the forthcoming live shows, Maz of Alias Kid said:

We went all over the place last year playing festivals, overseas shows and supporting loads of big bands. This is our first UK headline tour and we can’t wait to get on the road. The support we get around the country is amazing.”

Releasing their riotous debut album ‘Revolt to Revolt’ in May of last year, Alias Kid were met with adulation by the critics as they announced themselves to the world with the long-player. John Robb (Louder Than War) described the record as “a music of warmth and good times and party while you can”, whereas Music OMH hailed the band’s efforts as “a much needed riposte to the overbearing middle class bands that remain dominant just about everywhere you look these days.”

Throughout 2015, Alias Kid continued to gig relentlessly in pursuit of their now fearsome live reputation. Upping the ante and the octane with each show, Alias Kid played stripe-earning sets at major festivals including Wickerman, Standon Calling and Isle of Wight, plus a wealth of sold out shows in their native Manchester, acclaimed international dates and more. Having scored an early fan in fellow Mancunian and Monday’s main man Shaun Ryder, the band got a taste of bigger things to come, as they were invited to see out the year with a series of massive UK shows jn support of Happy Monday and Black Grape.

Alias Kid are: Maz Behdjet (Vocals, Guitar) / Sean O’Donnell (Vocals, Guitar) / Nick Repton (Bass guitar) / James Sweeney (Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals) / Colin Ward (Drums).
