ALIAS KID - Rock'n'roll quintet join BLACK GRAPE for winter tour

Rock’n’Roll renegades – ALIAS KID – are thrilled to announce they will re-join their Mancunian brethren BLACK GRAPE as chief support on their upcoming Winter tour.

Invited back for their second run in two consecutive years to tour with Shaun Ryder’s rabble rousing groove-meisters, the Manchester five piece will be opening up proceedings with their trademark heart-palpitating live performances on every night of the run.

Kicking off at the Waterfront in Norwich on the 11th of November, the two bands will take on 12 cities across the UK and Ireland together, climaxing with a show at Vicar Street in Dublin on the 23rd of December. (See full listings below.)

With the band hinting on social media that they have already begun working on the follow-up to their 2015 debut ‘Revolt to Revolt’, Alias Kid can confirm that the upcoming support shows will provide fans with their first teaser-taster of the new material on the way. Offering an insight into what to expect from the shows, vocalist Maz Behdjet says:

“We’re buzzing to all be back in the studio – and yes, you can expect a couple of new tunes coming your way. They’re sounding top, so we’re really excited about them… You can expect the usual Alias Kid, just ramped up a gear, because that’s where we’re at right now; ready to take on the world, and get our fans taking it on with us. That’s what we are about, so bring it on!”

Over the last 12months, the schedule for the gritty rock’n’roll revivalists has been nothing short of frantic, with demand for the band on an exponential rise. Releasing their acclaimed debut album ‘Revolt to Revolt’ last year and back to back tours with the Happy Mondays and Black Grape, the band hit the road in Spring 2016 to tour the record on a major UK tour of their own.

Polishing off the headline jaunt with a scintillating sell-out show at Manchester’s Club Academy in May, the quintet embarked on a summer festival campaign that saw them drop high-octane sets at the likes of Bingley Music Live, The Brit Project, Party in The Pines, and a particularly memorable set at this year’s Kendal Calling. Well rehearsed and feeling inspired, the band are now limbering up for the Black Grape shows with their tails up.

Recalling a golden, if hectic, summer for the band – lead singer Maz Behdjet reflects:

“We’ve played new festivals we’ve never done before, with a stand out set being at Kendal Calling. We were on dead early so didn’t expect many people to be about, but the place was rammed, people singing our songs and wearing our t-shirts – was crazy… Aside from that, we’ve been booking in new tour dates all over the place and overseas again, and are now looking forward to a busy Autumn/Winter supporting Black Grape. No rest for Alias Kid.”
