Skerryvore have announced their new album, Beautiful Mistakes, set for release on November 6, alongside new single “Fly.”
The album follows 2023’s Tempus, which reached Number 1 on the Official Scottish and Folk Album Charts and gave the band a Top 40 breakthrough on the Official Albums Chart.
Beautiful Mistakes is described as the band’s most ambitious and personal work to date, centred on the idea that perfection is overrated. Working for the first time with producer Jamie Squire, Skerryvore embraced a more organic approach in the studio, focusing on chemistry, live energy and more introspective songwriting.
Vocalist and songwriter Alec Dalglish said: “Making this album has been a much more organic process, where we often started acoustically, quite small, with the idea that the listener should feel like they’re in the room with us. Some of the songs still ended up sounding huge, but I think there’s a maturity there, and we really captured the live element of it all.”
Lead single “Fly” is a tribute to the band’s early days and captures the youthful energy and sense of brotherhood that helped shape Skerryvore from the beginning.
Alec added: “I was trying to capture that feeling of brotherhood and raucousness from the band’s early days. A tribute to where it all started as such.”
The album also includes the deeply personal “Singing Up In Heaven,” written in tribute to Alec’s late father, the Tiree-inspired instrumental “Scarinish,” the duet “While I’m Breathing” featuring Tamzene, and songs including “In Your Eyes,” “Oh My Love,” “The Game” and “Second Chance.”
Skerryvore have also announced a UK and Ireland headline tour, including a Belfast Limelight show on December 10 and a Dublin Academy date on December 11. Fans who pre-order the album from the band’s official store will receive access to a ticket pre-sale from Monday, June 29, at 10am BST, with remaining tickets on general sale from Friday, July 3, at 10am BST.
